  • When in Rome...

  • William Klein arrived in Rome in 1958 as an assistant to legendary director Federico Fellini but on the sidelines he became captivated by the narrow streets, ancient squares, modern cars and couture fashion that was Rome in the 1950’s…

Setting out to capture the soul of the city, Klein took fashion into the streets and gave street fashion a new meaning, getting models to pose in ordinary scenes that highlighted the chaotic yet spiritual pace of the city.

We love the diverse and ironic tone of the prints and of course the romantic elegance emancipated by the city.

The exhibition is currently showing at Maison Europeenn de la Photographie.
