There is an ancient story of a dragon known as the Naga. He lives on the volcano peaks of Bali, but at night will descend into the ocean to see his true love, the Pearl. In the morning, the Naga rises up from the water and flies back to his peak.

Rebecca Manners has connected with the last remaining Master goldsmiths in Bali that work the ancient art of granulation, a 3000 year old Etruscan technique of setting tiny little gold balls one by one onto gold. A technique that over millennia made it’s way to Indonesia.

Her silks take form in bias cut swirling timeless silhouettes of everyday elegance in a revolving array of earth sourced colours from Bali.

Farah inspires with her natural entrepreneurial spirit. Originally from East Java, Farah came to Bali 21 years ago to apply her skills working with a silver company.

Our latest purpose driven collaboration with social enterprise and Indonesian textile experts Threads of Life is here. Bringing you One of a Kind versatile hand loomed and 100% sustainable collectible pieces for you and your home.

We have repurposed these Selendang shoulder cloths in collaboration with Threads of Life (a social enterprise working with over 150 communities in the eastern islands of Indonesia), to create Limited Edition symbolic bags with natural dyed leather, finished in Bali supporting local craftsmen and women’s weaving communities. Each Selendang shoulder cloth takes up to 2 months to make through its complex and laborious process.

Rebecca was introduced to Jean Howe and William Ingram from Threads of Life and immediately they understood that they share the same vision, to bridge the gap between the East and the West and do what they can to help far flung communities with sustainable livelihoods and preserve indigenous wisdom and tradition.

We believe purpose driven shared valued collaborations. In collaboration with Threads of Life we are determined to preserve, support and celebrate Ikat textile art from indigenous cultures across the Indonesian archipelago.

At Rebecca Manners we bridge the gap between two worlds whilst delivering you historical ethically-made lifetime jewels. We believe in the people and authentic stories whilst searching for master artisans of ancient techniques from jewellery to interiors to save craft from extinction. Now more than ever in our current climate we are facing the loss of dying arts that are over 3000 years old. Artisans are having to migrate to other jobs due to the pandemic and factory made products are taking the lead due to fast delivery times.

With Rebecca Manners, we are not creating a new brand, we are developing a new language based on co-creation and intention.

There’s a language we have come to collectively adopt when describing artisanal in a contemporary context. It contains words like authenticity, handmade, personal, simplicity and transparency, all common denominators for a culture that actually dates back millennia and is as global as it is local.
